Indefinite Hiatus

As I'm sure you're all aware, Scrap Brain has always been not just a band, but a passionate and intense three-way sexual relationship. For this reason and others we are very sad to announce that the only girl is no longer with the band.

Lead singer Angie Clarke has left on amiable terms, and the band is now floating around in the void they call "indefinite hiatus" until we either a) get a new singer or b) do something else...

If you're a fan of Myke and Stew though stick around, and we'll let you know what we're up to next... when we figure it out.

This Tuesday the 8th we will be supporting great Birmingham bands &U&I and Shapes at Sneaky Pete's. We can get you in for cheap!! All you need to do is say "Scrap Brain" on the door and you get in for only £5 (I think the headliners' fans are paying £7).

The moment you've all been waiting for, the new Scrap Brain music video for our song Take It:

The video was filmed at Stevenson College as part of a project by a group of film students, and the featured song was recorded at the same site. Thanks to Graham Dempster, Rob O'Donnell, Kieron Fraser, Scott Campbell, Richard Turley, and Ben Glasgow.

On Wednesday 27 July you'll be able to download the tune too from our Bandcamp.

Brain Storm

So this is what's getting us really excited recently:

Next Saturday 7th May 2011 at Sneaky Pete's, Edinburgh. The Fire and I are the jedi to our padawan in terms of smashing drumming and overdriven lead bass. Come and admire. And our Glasgow based femme-fronted alt rock buddies Acrylic Iqon are playing too. For tickets £3 tickets, get in touch with the band, or even better, buy them online "box office collection" at no extra cost from TicketWeb.

We'll also be selling the new charity album No Colour Too Strong to Paint featuring 21 Edinburgh bands with the profit going to the Sick Kids Hospital. We have a track on there too.

Single Launch Gig

Thanks to everyone who came, and thanks to the support bands, Ginger Music, and our squad of merch and doors volunteers. Special thanks to Hagana, for playing an awesome set in the opening slot at the last minute. We owe you guys big time. There's pics floating around, they'll be uploaded to our Facebook group at some point.

Keith D of Edinburgh Undergorund also reviewed the show. Don't have tunes you can whistle in the shower? The webcam I installed in your bathroom, Keith, begs to differ!

Aberdeen Show cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Aberdeen date of our weekends-only tour has been cancelled. Our Grampian debut will have to wait. But we have a new gig to announce instead.

Rocking the Fort

Scrap Brain have been asked to play Rock The Fort music festival at Fort William. This week long music festival is happening alongside the Scottish Six Days Trial cycling race. We'll be playing on Sun 1 May 2011 and it's totally free! More info on this when we get it.

'Sound of Lightning' Fan Sims Video

Hey Scrap Brainiacs,

Next Edinburgh Gig

Thanks to everyone who came to see us play at the Underclass single launch at Bongo Club. We had a great time and made a lot of good contacts. There was a bunch of photographers there and you can see their work on our Facebook page or read the review on Edinburgh Spotlight.

Our next show is Fri 18 March 2011 at Cabaret Voltaire with Sidelock, Whigs & Rakes and Hold The Suspect. It will be a 14+ gig so all you jailbait kids are more than welcome (you know who you are!) The doors open at 19.00 and tickets are £6 on entry.

Debut Single

We can officially announce our debut single will be out Sat 8 April 2011. The track is called 'Nal' and it will be available on CD, or for MP3 download from Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Play.com, MOG, emusic, we7, Napster, oviNokia, Tesco Digital and iLike. The B-side is 'I Want You, You Want the Devil' and the cover art has been designed by comic book artist and graphic designer Stevie White.

Stew put together a wee teaser video showing us in the studio recording the single. It's pretty cool (ratatatatatatatatatat SLAYER!)

A launch party for the single is being organsied by Ginger Music Promotions at Maggies Chamber on the launch night (8 Apr). The party will include a live performance from ourselves, as well as Jump: Press A, Lady North, and Art of Privilege.

After that we'll be going on tour across Scotland to promote the single. More details to follow.

Yes, we have a website. www.scrapbrain.net It's really just a portal to our social media sites just now, but we will be expanding it soon. Professionalism is a gradual process.
